Podiatry at Moving With Ease
It’s easy to underestimate the role our feet play in our health and daily lives but when people start to realise just how much we use them, it’s a bit of a shock! They are the first interaction our body has with the ground, the pivot point to which the body moves. It is estimated they will carry us over 130,000 Kilometres over our lifetime. It’s not hard to see why they are one of the most important parts of the body.
What is Podiatry?
Podiatrists are university trained allied health specialising in the prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of foot, ankle and lower leg pain and injury. They specialise in the conservative and non-surgical treatments for a large array of injuries, pain and disorders. Podiatrists also assess, alter and enhance foot function to affect the body further up the chain assisting with knee, hip, and back function.
In determining the cause of your injury, a thorough history will be taken, an evaluation of the problem and the causes will be discussed with you. Sometimes more dynamic assessment of walking, running and sports-specific activities will be conducted. Based on the results of these assessments, a comprehensive treatment regime will be discussed with you.

Sport podiatry is a sub-specialty of podiatry that involves the expertise in diagnosis and rehabilitation of sports and exercise related injury. We utilise treatments such as exercise rehabilitation, manual therapy, strapping, footwear prescription, dry needling and orthotic therapy to treat professional, amateur and young athletes. Sports podiatry covers foot and lower limb chronic overuse injuries & mechanical performance enhancement to minimise injury and to maximise efficiency.
Biomechanical Assessment (Running & Walking Anaylsis)
Functional assessment and gait analysis can be valuable in giving a more in-depth analysis of how the body moves. This enables us to assess key features in particular segments of movement. The interpretation of information gathered is where the skill lies. Often our podiatrists assess gait and movement in context with a tissue that is injured thus this forms a part of an extensive musculoskeletal screening
Custom Orthotic Therapy
Orthotics are in-shoe medical appliances designed to reduce stress in tissues, optimise foot function and improve the biomechanical action of the entire body system. They do this by manipulating the vital interaction with the foot and the ground. In certain instances these principles can be vital to addressing pain and dysfunction within the musculoskeletal system.
We are trained and experienced in the treatment of pediatric foot and ankle conditions. We understand the physiology of each tiny bone, ligament and muscle in a child’s growing foot and ankle. We offer specialty podiatric treatment of children of all ages who are showing the signs of congenital or acquire foot health complications, such as pain, structure issues or abnormal walking patterns.
General skin and nail problems including infections, callous, blisters and ingrown nails. We perform full and total nail surgeries to provide permanent solution to problematic nail problems. We undertake diabetic foot assessment to assess blood flow and sensation to the foot in order to classify risk of diabetic foot complications.
