The category of ball sports includes a variety of fundamental skills.  The player with best sensory awareness is often the most skillful contestant and also the least likely to sustain an injury.  The integration of sensory information is processed at an extremely fast rate to enable quick change of direction, speedy visual processing and lightening fast reflexes.

Injuries to the lower limbs, torso and pelvis are not uncommon in fast paced activities.  Rehabilitation for these injuries goes well beyond strengthening the muscles around the joints.  The requirements to regain full performance and minimize risk of further injury we must also take into account deficits in the balance, tone, reflexes, coordination and visual systems.  Often, from an injury management perspective, the most important rehab exercises include functional activities that closely simulate what happens in the game.
