So does anybody get tired when they read ? I know some people who use reading as a tool to sleep !
Although this is a creative way to drift off it doesn’t help when it comes to needing to learn something. I think we all agree that reading is pretty valuable.
So your vision seems fine…. Now what do you do?
Well, it might be worth checking your ability to CONVERGE! Or in other words- go cross eyed! Most people havnt done this since they were kids. It’s not a good look 😳
Essentially this is your ability to coordinate the movement of both eyes inward as you stare on a target 1-2 cm from the bridge of your nose. Easiest way to check it is to video yourself on your phone. If you can’t hold your eyes together for 5 seconds without the eye drifting apart there’s a good chance this will be contributing to your reading fatigue.
Practise with a pen 2-3 times, holding for up to 5 seconds. Repeat 4-6 X per day ONLY if you can do it without feeling ill/dizzy. If you do feel off after doing this drill drop it back to 1 repetition, once or twice a day.
Improving convergence strength and symmetry will not only help your reading endurance and decrease fatigue but will also assist with symmetry in the spinal stability muscles.
